Tubman is a Community School

A Community School is a holistic educational approach that extends beyond traditional academics to address the diverse needs of students, families, and the local community. Serving as a hub for collaboration, a Community School supports the integration of internal resources and external partners to provide and expand essential services and support to the school community. Tubman Elementary’s lead community partner, Mary’s Center, provides an on-site Community School Coordinator to manage school initiatives with external partners and provide case management services to families. Through the partnership, Mary’s Center makes healthcare and social services more accessible to families by hosting on-site medical and dental events, offering educational workshops to parents, providing case management to help families navigate social service applications and referrals, and supporting mental health through a full-time School-Based Mental Health Therapist located at Tubman.
